The Fund works closely with Parami University, a D.C.-licensed online university with roots in Myanmar, to provide education programs
to underserved students, including displaced and conflict-affected students in Myanmar, migrant and refugee students in Thailand,
stateless youth, and students from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The Fund directly supports scholarships for
the online undergraduate degree programs at Parami University. It also supports the delivery of massive open online courses to
promote thought leadership and skills development of large cohorts of youth. Lastly, the Fund supports the residential living and
connectivity costs of students who lack the digital infrastructure and stability to access online education from the safety of their
homes.

A decade-old budding democracy descended into crisis when the Burmese military staged a coup in February 2021, leading to the most widespread fighting and instability the country has seen in decades. The international community’s response to the crisis in Burma has been insubstantial compared to the scale of human suffering, the magnitude of human rights abuses, and the degree of destruction. Stuck in the current geopolitical landscape, the nation of nearly 60 million people is battered by the daily atrocities of the regime, resulting in millions of people displaced and a growing refugee crisis.
